Oguzhan Ozyakup has been backed to join Chelsea by Besiktas president Fikret Orman.

The 23-year-old midfielder spent five years with Arsenal as a youngster but left in 2012 in search of first-team opportunities.

He failed to make an appearance during his time with Arsene Wenger’s side but he has attracted attention due to his performances in Turkey.

And his own boss has claimed that he would be a success if he moved back to the Premier League with Chelsea.

‘Last season, Lazio made an approach for Oguzhan, but I didn’t want him to go there,’ he told Turkish radio station TRT.

‘Lazio are an average side in Italy.

‘Besiktas are bigger than them.

‘If Oguzhan goes to Europe, it should be to a team of the calibre of Chelsea.’

Orman would only sell the Turkish international for a fee of £15million.
