Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are eyeing the potential January transfer of Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez, according to reports.

Martinez, who was signed by Diego Simeone’s side for an eye-watering £29million from Porto in the summer, has failed to make a significant impact in Madrid with Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres receiving more game time.

The 29-year-old Colombian appears to be hamstrung by the pressures of a big-money transfer and has failed to replicate the outrageously impressive goalscoring form that saw him score 92 times in 132 appearances in Portugal.

Under Simeone at Atletico the forward has only found the net three times in 12 appearances and, according to the Mirror, the fiery manager is willing to allow Martinez a loan deal to the Premier League in January to prove his worth.

Reports also suggest that the player would jump at the chance to gain regular playing time with both London clubs Chelsea and Spurs keen to battle it out.
