Willy Caballero has spoken about the goalkeeper situation at Chelsea after he replaced Kepa Arrizabalaga for the draw against Leicester.

Kepa had put in a string of poor performances for the Blues and Frank Lampard appears to have lost patience, giving Caballero his first Premier League start of the season.

Caballero had made a good save from Jamie Vardy in the first half but was then caught out to allow Ben Chilwell to score with the match eventually finishing 2-2.

And the former Manchester City keeper opened up on the situation at Chelsea following the entertaining encounter.

The shot-stopper said: ”I am really happy to help the team to play today.

“I made a few saves but more important is the spirit of the team, we rescued one point here which is so difficult.

”It is hard as a goalkeeper when we don’t have the opportunity to play, we have to keep the faith, keep training well and when the opportunity arrives you have to be ready for it.

“This is a lesson for every goalkeeper in the world, we must be ready at any time.”

But Chelsea boss Lampard was not giving much away on what the future holds for his goalkeepers.

“I’m not going to talk about that now,” said the Chelsea manager when asked if Caballero would keep his place.

“But I thought his overall performance was pretty good. He made some good saves, was comfortable with his feet.

“I was right behind the Harvey Barnes goal it was typical the deflection it was instantly in so there wasn’t much he could do with either goal.

“At the end of the day it’s good to take a point away from here because they were pushing and after the 1-0 we were a bit sloppy.

“I’m happy for the team but most important is the spirit we showed after the 2-1 and we came back.

“We only have to look game by game. The upcoming month of February will be very tough. But we will be up for the fight, that’s for sure.”
